Data Processing
VAT Calculator runs entirely in your browser. Amounts, selected countries, invoice rows and margin calculations are processed client-side and are never sent to our servers.
Local Storage
The following data may be stored in your browser's localStorage:
- Calculation history — last 15 calculations (country, rate, direction, amounts)
- Theme preference — dark or light mode selection
- Number format — EU (1.234,56) or US (1,234.56) preference
- Display currency — your preferred currency symbol
This data stays on your device and is never transmitted. You can clear it at any time via your browser settings.
External Services
The calculator connects to the following third-party services:
- frankfurter.app — currency exchange rates API (when you use the currency conversion feature). This API is open-source and does not require authentication. Your IP address is visible to this service when a request is made.
- api.qrserver.com — QR code generation API (when you generate a QR code for a share URL). Your IP address and the share URL are visible to this service.
No personal data beyond your IP address is shared with these services.
Service Worker & Caching
A service worker caches pages and assets for offline use. Cached data is stored locally and is not sent anywhere. You can unregister the service worker in your browser's developer tools.
Cookies
No cookie is set unless you accept analytics. If you accept, Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity set first-party cookies; see the Cookie Policy for each cookie, its purpose and its lifetime.
Advertising & Analytics
This site uses three measurement tools:
- Google Analytics 4 (Google Ireland Ltd) — audience measurement.
- Microsoft Clarity (Microsoft Ireland Operations Ltd) — usage analytics, heatmaps and session replay of your interaction with the calculator.
- Cloudflare Web Analytics (Cloudflare, Inc.) — page views, referrer and country, aggregated. Cookieless: nothing is stored on your device.
Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity run on the legal basis of your consent, Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, collected through the banner and denied by default; their scripts are not loaded until you accept. Both providers may process data in the United States under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses. Cloudflare Web Analytics sets no cookies and identifies no one, and runs on legitimate interest, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.
You can change or withdraw your consent at any time:
No advertising is served today. If Google AdSense is enabled in the future, consent will be collected through a Google-certified Consent Management Platform integrated with IAB TCF v2.2 and this page will be updated first.
